Credit Rating & Information Services of India Ltd. (CRISIL) is a ratings, research, risk and policy advisory company. CRISIL grades microfinance institutions on their operational and financial performance using an eight-point scale, with mfR1 being the highest rating and mfR8 the lowest. The grading is based on a broad range of parameters, including management, institutional arrangement, capital adequacy and asset quality, resources and asset-liability management, operational effectiveness, and scalability and sustainability.
