In Hindi, the word “Swadhaar” means
self-support. Veena Mankar and Haseena Vahanvaty
– the promoters of Swadhaar – founded the
Company as a means to provide the urban poor
with increased access to reliable and efficient
financial services.
The name, Swadhaar, is a reflection of the
Company’s objective to improve the economic
capacity of India’s urban poor, thereby helping
them to achieve self-reliance and meet their
aspirations for a better and more secure future.
